Moya Cole -Artist

Moya Cole is an Albany based, Western Australian visual artist who constructs drawings and paintings.

Moya explores a range of contemporary challenges which continue to confront our world. She is particularly interested in examining how the relationship between place and identity are intertwined and inextricably bound to one another. How place functions to provide a sense of belonging, comfort and the fostering of attachments.

Inspired by her subjective experiences, surroundings and “the everyday”, Moya employs elements of repetition, pattern, line and shifts in tone, slowly building imagery which often hovers between abstraction and figuration. Her aim, through her meditative process is twofold in purpose. To convey a space for contemplation and quietude for the viewer whilst, at the same time, allowing her to slow down and engage and in the present.

Moya holds a Bachelor Degree in Fine Art with Curtin University and Certifications in Visual Art and Contemporary Craft with Great Southern Institute of Technology. She has successfully exhibited in collaborative and community exhibitions and awards in Perth, Collie [CAP 2020], Cossack and across the Great Southern region over many years.
